Traditionally, Malgarr were used with Liyangayil (fighting clubs) for hand to hand combat with enemies. Mick Harding has replicated the shape of these shields in his artwork. Womindjeka means "Welcome". In a welcoming ceremony, Djerrang U Wurrdhadindu (many gum leaves) are burnt in a Darnuk (wooden bowl).
